Hey all,
New to the reloading game.
I picked up some US869 from sportmans and have Berger 156 EOL as well as nosler partition 140s. Curious if anyone has experience here.
Thanks for the info,
Dan

US869 is a very slowwwwwww buring powder. It has a burn rate about like water soaked coal. It's generally best when used in something that is very overbore, particularly when using heavy for caliber bullets where many other powders will pressure out before they get the velocity you're looking for. The 7RUM and 7-338 Lap Imp with 180-195's US869 is a top performer. I use it in my 300 Allen Express w/230's and 338 Lap Imp w/300's.

It can also be very dirty and sooty but there are tricks that help with that if your gun likes it but in a 6.5PRC it wouldn't be a very good choice because I don't think there is enough case capacity. You can certainly try it if you want but expect it to be very dirty and you'll probably be way down on velocity. Also, I'd use Fed 215's or CCI 250 primers.

I don’t think Berger has any load data for 6.5 PRC, but the Hogdon website does for US 869 and various 140 to 153 grain bullets. I am getting a 6.5 PRC this summer, and I planned to try some IMR 8133 I have laying around.

I am curious how the 869 works for you, so please post an update when you try it.
