If you have a 300 PRC before the hunt and you're choosing between that and a 6.5 PRC. I believe the 300 PRC is definitely the best choice. Caliber size and the corresponding bullet weight increases...really do matter. I used to shoot a 300 WM/Barnes TTSX and my buddy currently shoots a 300 RUM/Partitions at moose. I'm now shooting a 375 H&H/Barnes LRX. Although it's a relatively small sample size (statistically) for the number of bulls killed......I will say that from what I've seen....the larger the caliber and increased bullet weight makes a big difference. Definitely enough to justify dealing with the increased recoil. Like most things you get what you pay for. Train with lighter calibers (22LR, 6.5's etc) and then hunt with a big boomer.

I have no opinion regarding calibers for moose. But good luck moose hunting! Shoot a big one!
