thanks for all the input fellas now another question. What is the real world difference between the VLD and the Hunter in the 140s. I was messing around with ballistic charts and noticed not much difference between a 156 starting at 3000 and a 140 say at 3100-3150. Gun gets here this week and cant wait to get shooting her. its a 1:8 24' tube

If the ballistics are equal... I would go with the heavier bullet. More lead = more dead most of the time in my opinion. I have had fantastic results with the 156.

Agree just hoping the 1:8 will stabilize it well enough. I am pretty sure I can get close to 3k fps
My buddy and i run 26" tubes 1-8 & 1-7.5 with the 156g. They shoot lights out at 1300y and are devastating on deer , elk, and caribou . I have a 22" 1-7.5 proof that shoot the 156 great as well . The only thing i do it get them to @3050fps and then fine tune them.
Good luck and be safe

I just finished up load development on my 24 in saum! Ended up at 2980 with the 156 could have went faster but the groups were too good to move to the higher node! Haven’t killed with it yet other than plates but that bullet really hammers on the plates
did you use h1000?

I run the 156EOL in my 6.5SAUM with a 22 inch, 1-8" Brux with RL26 powder. I'm at 3000fps and it's a laser beam out to 1200 yards.

Anyone running the 156s in their SAUM with powders other than H1000 or RL26? My new barrel is on order and I’m getting set up to load now, and only have 1lb of H1000. Haven’t been able to score anymore at a reasonable price yet, so I picked up some Magnum, LRT and 7828.
