I'm going to build one of these with a 20" barrel. Can any SAUM shooter sway me that way?

I have both, not a big enough difference to go the saum route unless you’re worried about 40-50fps. I lean towards the PRC because I hunt in Canada a bunch and there is a possibility to buy factory ammo if for some reason mine gets lost.

I have a 27" saum and my buddy has the 24" prc. With H1000 and 143 eldx, he is running his at 3080 right below max pressure for his rifle. I ran up to 3240 before I hit pressure. My brass and dies were more expensive, with only hornady brass being available when I had my saum built. More options now then a few years ago.

I like the saum because it has the capacity to outrun the prc with H1000, plus ADG brass is actually available in stock since everyone jumped on the prc wagon.
Anyone getting close to saum speeds with a prc is either running ridiculously high pressure or RL26.
Here's my 16.5 " saum, 142s at 2880 with H1000

Ryan, are you not having PRC sizing issues? I’d go SAUM, especially if you’re going to reload for it.

I only have a 7 SAUM. It’s a Remington Model Seven SS with the factory 22” barrel. I’m shooting 160 grain Partitions 2960fps and 160 grain Accubonds 2950fps.

I don’t know how much slower it would be with a 20” barrel.

My main hunting rifle is a 6.5 SAUM. Plenty of brass around, and not worrying about clickers at all. Stick with H-1000 and you’ll have plenty of barrel life.
I had it chopped from 24” to 20” to make it handier with my Ultra 7.
61.0 H-1000 gets the 139 scenar just a hair under 3,000 fps from the 20”, I was about 3,080 before.
I’m getting ready to build another one with a faster twist barrel for the 156 EOL, thought I’d go with PRC but I’m going to build another SAUM.

Sizing issues? Since it's a comparison thread, what issues does the PRC have that the SAUM does not? I've done a lot of .375 Ruger and 7mm-.375 loading and they have been as vanilla as can be.

For the record, I generally go bigger case unless there is a compelling reason to do otherwise. Same with race motors in cars. There is no substitute for cubic inches. Thou can load anything down, but can only load up to what the case volume allows.

I’ve had several PRC’s. My current is a Gunwerks ClymR with a 21” tube. Shoots 127 LRX at 3055. I’m also having Steve Boswell build me an ultra lite Ti with a 23” tube and will probably shoot 143 ELD X out of that one.
