I've been trying to do research but with ammo prices (and local avaliability) being as they are, and a lot of 6.5 discussion being from 2017-8, I was wondering how these two calibers compare in 2020+.

I'm looking into one of them as a first hunting rifle and I won't be reloading. I just want to grab deer ammo off the shelf at the local shop and stay within 300 yards. What's the current thoughts? Thanks!

In more reasonable times, I find more variety of 6.5CM than I do .243. At this moment, it's probably easier to walk in and leave with a box or two of .243. In the long-run though I would still get the 6.5 because local box stores will carry more bulk options for it which means more shooting for less cost.

I had a .243 for quite a while, before the latest panic buying phase the 6.5 Creedmoor was more available locally and online and had a better selection of bullets and ammunition overall.

Never thought I’d suggest the 6.5cm. But it would sure be a better all around caliber than the 243.

And here is SE Okla, no 243 ammo to be found. CM somewhat.
