Worked up my first ladder today on a recent project. Found a few nodes that seem to shoot well. Load was 39-42gr (didn’t work up to max today as I ran out of time) pushing 120gr SMK .010” off the lands. The best group has an ES from 2910-2901. All brass needs a little bump on the shoulder but I’m running .288” on my neck bushing which is around .0035” of tension. Planning on taking that load and playing with seating depth next but so far it seems like a shooter. This group came in around .385”

Nice shooting. What powder?

My 6.5x47 is the easiest gun I've loaded for. It stacks holes no matter what it seems.

42.2 grains of H4350 gets a 130 AR hybrid going 2950 from a 26" barrel. My barrel has excessive freebore so this load would be warm in most others.

Man my post looks ugly, didn’t mean for that picture to get placed like that. This was H4350 as well. So far I’ve been impressed with it, all in all it’s just a fun fun to shoot too. Have you worked up to a 140 in yours?

Yeah, I've done 140s as well. It's a 8.5 twist and seems to like 130s just a tad better. It stacked 140 hybrids/JLKs with 40.5 gr at about 2770 FPS. Again, it has 0.190"ish freebore and so those charges are pretty high.

I hear that, talking to some guys they’ve said that they seldom see pressure signs until primers stop seating. Any experience there?

Nope, never seen anything with primer seating issues. It's true they are some damn stout cases that don't show much for pressure signs. I actually have never pushed them high enough to where i got a sticky bolt or obvious signs on case heads or primers. Once i found nodes at 2950 with a 130 and 2770 with a 140 i just knew that much higher given the powder and case capacity had to mean lots of pressure and left well enough alone. I think my charges were already approaching 2 grains over what is in the berger manual as max.

Have had excellent results with .170 freebore, 140 vld and IMR4451. CCI small mag primers.

I don't know why, but I've been intrigued by that cartridge. I've been wanting to get a 6.5, but just can't decide on which one.

Good luck with your new rifle.

I've had an affliction with the 47 for a few years now and this is my first, I do not own a creedmore although there are 2 in my family that I get to play with from time to time. Had my dad or cousin not already purchased their creedmore I may have gone that direction but honestly my rebellious childhood spirit lives on too strongly to do what they're doing haha.

I bought this rifle used and did little research on the gun before buying it. I'm assuming its a SAAMI chamber. The barrel is a Criterion and the lands start around 2.065" I would assume that your amount of freebore is almost required for bullets 140 and over? Any experience taking medium size game with the cartridge? I think I may try and poke a whitetail with it sometime.

I have more freebore than him in mine and shoot 130s. I shoot the AR hybrids to get a little closer to the lands. A 130 JLk was almost completely out of the case neck to touch lands on mine.

I don’t hunt with mine but should perform the same as a Creedmoor.

We have had excellent success shooting 140 VLD bullets at modest velocities at game. Son shot a nice 400 pound black bear at 436 or so last fall and I watched it just collapse and roll down the hill with a high lung shot. He also shot a very large bodied mule deer last fall with same bullet and a little less range. Hoping to mess some with the 147 ELD this fall but bullets shot in this velocity window do very well on game near and far.
