I have a new 7mm SAUM I’m planning to run 180 Scenars or Bergers in.

Load data seems all over the place on this one, wondering if anyone here is running the same.

I have new ADG brass and a ton of R22 that I had planned on using here. It was the best i tried in my WSM with 120s to 162s.

Planning on starting at 54 grains and working up to pressure with the bullet just at the lands.

SAAMI chamber, 24” 1/8” barrel, 3” mag box if that helps.

I love that cartridge. I don't shoot that heavy of a bullet or that type in mine, so I can't help you there.

With my 160 grainers, I got great accuracy and velocity with RL26 and IMR7828SSC out of my 22" barrel.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks, I may drop down in weight, but I’ve had good luck with Scenars and the heavier weights.

Just measured, COAL with a 180 touching lands is 2.925”. They will be eating up some powder space, but won’t be too bad.

My 7 SAUM is in a Remington Model Seven SS. My COAL is 2.80". I'm getting 2950fps with Accubonds and 2980fps with Partitions.

Just started fiddling with the 168 VLD in my 700 Ti 7SAUM. 57 grains of R23 got me 2,750 fps with the Ultra7 on. Going up to 58 and maybe more, I should be able to get 2,850 to 2,900 I’m thinking. Heard good things about the 168 VLD on deer and elk.

I’ve heard good things on those too.

The Scenars have been really easy to work with in everything else I’ve tried them in, plus with the 3” mag box of the Kimber I figured the 180s might be the way to go.

I don’t chase velocity really, but am hoping for close to 2800.

Safety note: all rifles are different, as are loads. This is not a starting load but, may be used as a reference. Additionally, this is a really "fast" barrel for whatever reason.

I am at 2960fps, 24" 8.5 twist, with 58.5 gr h4831 behind Berger 175 HH coal is 2.96
Good luck!

VAhunter01, what did you end up getting for velocity with the 180s? I'm having my smith put together a 7saum with very similar specs to yours, wondered what a guy can expect "realistically" for velocity?

I run 175 eldx at 2820ish through a 22” barrel with h1000 but they are over 3” COAL.
