Hello all,

My build is finally complete, now for the loads. I did a mild break in with 25 rounds of 168gr ABLRs with H4831. What is everyone using or recommend. With finding powder being such a pain in the a$$ I think H4831 is a decent safe option. Its a 22" barrel. . . So . . .

what bullet?
(I want to try the 162 gr ELDX and could fine tune the 168 gr ABLR)

what powder?
(I have H4831 now)

Mine loved 65.0 grains of Reloder 26, 210M primers, and 175 ELD-X, or 62.5-64 grains of 7828SSC.

I put together a 1:9 twist WSM last week and it shot the 162 ELDXs well. I have a 23” CF barrel on mine in a savage short action. Magazine can support 2.975”.

My load is .015 off lands at 2.925”. I started at 66.5gr of RL26 and went to 69.2. 69.2 was possibly a bit hot so will work the 68.8-69 area and seating depth for a bit. Speed was impressive. Alliant webpage has the load a bit higher but I won’t make it that high.

Good luck.

Nice rifle. Probably my favorite caliber behind the 300 wsm. Everyone is jumping on the 1-8 but I think a 1-9 is perfect for the sweet spot this caliber sits in.

Sounds awesome, my only problem is the mag box length. Im working with a SA so if I don't want to single load Ill need to figure something out. I loaded up some 162 eldx and couldn't get them anywhere close to the lands when keeping them at saami spec length.

I took my NM elk with 168 berger classic hunters, they shot awesome. I think I am going to mess with some 150 ABLRs for next years coues hunt.

My 18:” suppressed barrel liked the 162 eldx although the FPS was slow on factory ammo.
Probably not what you are looking for but I reloaded 157gr Hammers (coppers) and got great velocity with good groups.
Took a deer and bear this fall with it. Hoping to have the opportunity to try it out on an elk too.

Basically 2.855” . . I am using a Wyatt’s single stack standard length box. My action is the limiting factor. It’s cut to be used with a standard length box.

Can you put a wyatts extended mag in it?

with your OAL you will need to stick with the 168 or less bullets. In my 7mm I have had good luck with the 162 eldm . They do have a long bearing surface so go slower that other bullets but have great BC to make up for it. Performance on midsize game has been great

for mono the 143 Hammer Bullet has been very accurate. and easy to load in all the calibers I have tried
