I'm sure this has been discussed. I've always run a 6" boot but was wondering your thoughts on an 8". I got the Hoffman 6" explorer 3 years ago and love this boot but wondering how the 8" would feel. I have a boot allowance coming up and I'll be buying another pair of Hoffman's. With the exception of antelope, everything else I hunt is steep.
I've been wearing 6" boots for so long it looks like I shave the bottom 6" of my legs. I suppose if I go with 8" I'll loose another 2" of leg hair. 😆

The taller boots are hotter from my experience, and I don't like them rubbing on my shins that high up. For me, 7" are about perfect. I have the exact same boot model in a 7" and a 10" and I always take the 7" for archery elk hunting. I've actually thought about trying to cut off the top 3" of the 10", but then I'd lose the padding around the top. I'm more mobile with the 7". The 10" are more like ski boots. I can easily run up and down slopes and over downfall with the 7".
