Advice on silencing hawk helium sticks

I've got a set of the large helium sticks. I've done a couple mods on them, added silencer strips to the backs and Amsteel daisy chains to replace the cam straps but that's it so far. My issue is that I keep getting a loud squeaking noise that seems to be coming from the versa button when I've got my weight on them. They are especially loud when I'm strapped to an oak with dense bark. It's become really annoying and gets worse the colder the weather is.

I've thought about getting plastic washers to see if that helps or spraying them with Remington oil. Would prefer not to do that though with the scent probably lingering. Has anyone else dealt with this issue? I know lots of guys use these.
