I’m having a hard time deciding what stock would be better for me. This would be going on a ca ridgeline 7mm and would be a mountain hunting rifle. I do occasionally shoot long range (for fun not competition). I have always had sporter style stocks on my rifles so the c.a.t would be more familiar plus lighter but I’m also considering trying something different like the alpine hunter. Any thoughts or first hand experience?

I recently used the CAT on a 280AI build and love it. Light, handles well and fits me well. I was looking at the same choices as you. I’ve been happy with mine. It was also an ounce or so lighter than advertised as well.

Have you ever used or handled a more vertical grip stock?

Honestly, I don’t know if I could go back to a sporter style stock. My hand placement, finger position on the trigger, and recoil management are better.

I have an alpine hunter being put on my new rifle. I’ve never had one of theirs and I wanted to try it.
