So i have had the AGM asp 35 scanner for the last month and have used a it a few times. This is my opinions and observations from my experience with it.

Pro's:
Focus, great picture, easy to use, multiple pallets, pic and video and app
Con's:
Internal battery, slow start up and slightly large

Between a buddy and I we have taken this out 5 nights or more and have seen many coyotes as well as the usual cows, deer and elk and have taken some pictures and videos so that you guys as well as others can see what they may be getting before they buy.

The unit over all is great, built well and easy to use, it takes about 5 seconds to start up the 1st screen and then a few seconds for that to clear to the thermal picture, the enternal battery lasts about 5 hours or so and with a full charge and a 5200 mah external hooked up it will last about 13 hours, so all night. You can hook up your phone or tablet through an app as well as run pics and videos from the app. Multiple pallets help you find game and give options for picture. Detection on coyote sized game subject to terrain and weather, but we seen a coyote at near 1 half mile, birds in trees at 300 plus and deer way further than those distances.

I will be interested to see the micro versions as well as the 640 core in the same size set up as this 384 core 35mm scanner. Thos is a great tool for finding game to hunt as well as recovery.

No sir, I have all I need.
I am constantly looking to find something different that is small and light enough to be helmet mountable though.

Yeah, I've used them both.
The flir lacks good detection range and clarity, but I love the size.
The iray has good clarity but I do not like the 'lag' that the pic has. They claim it's a 50hz processor but I'm not sure I buy that, the pic tends to lag too much for me to believe it's 50hz.
I currently use a reap 35mm as a helmet mounted scanner but the weight of it gets tiresome. A skeet would be ideal but I'm not willing to fork out that much $.
I am hopeful that something the size of the iray or breach that has good clarity, detection range, and a fast processor will come along soon.

I hear you on skeet, i have thought about the iray.

I think agm is coming with a small thermal that can be mounted

Geeb thanks for this report. I recently used the same unit coyote hunting. I’m about to buy a scanner and a Super Hogster.
Have you had the opportunity to use the Bering Phenom monocular?
I’m torn on which scanner/monocular to buy.

Never have seen the phenom in hand, heard recently they updated the phenom and it is supposed to be real good, have 2 helion xo 50's right now a gen 1 aNd gen 2. Trying to see which I like or want more

I just picked up a FLIR Breach to use with my PVS-14 on a bridge. I’m NOT trying to “fuse” the two, but just have IR and Thermal detection on my helmet while hog hunting. I’m using either one or the other. I’ve tried to look at both and even though the images are close to being aligned, my brain/eyes can’t see an overlay like others supposedly can. The 60Hz refresh rate and 12 micron processor give a super clean image for a 320 thermal monocular. Every recording I had seen online was a bit deceiving to what you really see through the monocular with your own eye. It’s much better “in person”. I’m using the Black Hot mode and gives me a great image with my L3Harris WP PVS-14.
