My bowhunting partner and I have decided to follow bugles this year for our backpack archery elk hunt, we usually hike in several miles and set up a base camp with all of our ultralight gear but this is obviously limiting for several reasons. I have a Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Camper because it I like the wider pad and I was willing to pay the weight penalty but it is a pain in the ass to have to deflate and roll up, especially potentially every day. I've tried foam pads but they only provide r-value and zero comfort for me as a side sleeper.

What is everyone else doing who bivy hunts doing with their air mattress? Do you take the time to roll it up or just jam it in your pack in the morning? I'm worried it will get damaged without properly deflating and rolling it up.

You're gonna have to deflate it and roll it up. Just unscrew the valve while laying there making coffee or putting your boots on. Through hikers do it every day for sometimes months on end.
