Like others have said, prefer merino for hiking. But alpaca for in camp/tent for the warmth while stationary.

Was gonna buy a few pairs from paka apparel for Xmas but most were sold out, really been wanting to try em. So Instead, I just picked up a few more point6 merino socks.

I think they feel warmer than Merino, but it's close enough that I can't be sure it's not just in my mind. Definitely softer, lighter, and more flexible in my experience. I've worn pairs multiple times a week for a month or two before they began to stink. As some have said some brands will tend to bunch or slip when hiking, but I haven't had that issue with my Pacas. I wear mine all winter.
