Yeah they work fine for a little insulation, under rainpants is ideal. No bells and whistles, not even a zipper, but super lightweight

you can get under armour ridge reaper alpine pants new on ebay for under $100. I'm a 35x33 and large's work fine. 16oz so maybe not ultra light, but very warm.

Kuiu kenai 3/4 puffy’s. Vias and new with tag, but they are 2xl, so closer to a 38” waste. If pulling on over other pants while glassing, they would work well I think size wise, but too big if wanted wear as an under layer.

Ive owned these for three seasons now, absolutely love them. Side zip is plenty big to get over you boots.
