Any opinions on Athlon Binos? Cronus 8.5x42 and Ares 8x42

I am looking for some 8x42 binos and was considering the Athlon Ares 8x42 and the Cronus 8.5x42. Anyone have any experience comparing either of these to anything else? Know if they hold their own vs Maven C series, Viper HD, etc? Can get them from Doug for a fair bit lower price than those. Seems like good specs, great FOV, great warranty. Any opinions?

Doug over at Cameraland highly recommendeds the Athlon Cronus binos. They seem to have a great warranty and have good reviews. They are heavy though.
