The park is extremely small maybe 1/4 acre at most, with homes/condos bordering it who's residents would recall the mayor should this happen.
I think this "tent city" was said in jest due to the proposed affordable housing project in town getting no support from a majority of residents.
There is affordable housing south of Ketchum but people don't want to drive.
Just about every town that has experienced our rate of growth in the last few years has the same problem, don't know why this is generating any attention when there are currently tens of thousands of people living in tents in many major cities and nobody cares.
Our valley also has been flooded with non documented workers that has driven wages back 20yrs also adding to inability for service workers to afford housing.
The flood of undocumented workers driving down wages is a statewide issue, particularly in my neck of the woods.

I spent a lot of time skiing at Sun Valley in the 70s. At first we'd fly into Boise, as the years passed, we'd fly into Haily and rent a car. I saw Schwarzenegger and his family skiing there in the 90s. I remember learning to ski on Dollar Mountain. I elk hunted off Germania, northeast of Galena. Real wild country.

I never said Mexicans, but there's been a huge influx of undocumented/illegal/incredibly cheap labor. Do the math and keep rolling your eyes.
Can you tell me how many white people are lining up for those jobs? And how much do you think market value would be for dinner or a drywall crew at those rates? The undocumented workers are there because it's what the free market demands.

Late 70s Sun Valley Presidents weekend ski trip. The weather was too bad to fly out, so we stayed another day and the sun came out and we skied again. When I got back to high school my teacher didn't believe me that I missed a day because of bad weather, because my face was sunburned.

I think this is Sun Valley in the 70s. That's my dad, his plumber buddy and my brother.

The legal employees are making an additional $13 per hr for the same work in my area.

I thought they came here ILLEGALLY to escape the hellhole countries they came from? I didn't know it was the free market? So, the free market demands illegals come here to work? Did you learn that in economics class at the university or political rags like the one you posted?

Actually, since every other business I pass cant find enough workers and places have had to cut hours I would say, yes. The free market demands immigrants come here to work because the locals sure are not filling the jobs. Went to a restaurant the other day and they couldn't run the drive through because they cant find employees.

No, the free market is supply and demand. Not enough help, pay them more. Can't afford to pay them more, try and find legal Americans in other parts of the Country, raise prices, lower costs, cut hours, increase demand or close down. Hiring illegals is illegal and the tax payers end up subsidizing them when they are paid low wages. Does free market demand that a restaurant break food safety laws to make ends meet?
Does the free market demand businesses break the law to keep afloat? I don't think so. What you mean to say is that businesses may not survive without cheap, illegal workers. However, instead you are parroting an false, political talking talking point critizing the free market.

A lot of those houses are HUGE mansions. I remember driving around in the 90s at night and the lights of the homes were blinding. Extreme wealth there. It was very wealthy in the 70s and 90s. It's definitely getting more popular and MUCH more accessible by air!
