Not trying to be a dick. I have been going back and forth about dig a scope or bridge camera for long distance filming, photos. I came across the Nikon p1000 and the reviews are not overwhelming.( will use video far more then pictures) But seeing these photos through a high dollar spotting scope they don’t seem to be any better and many are worse then the photos in the camera reviews. And I would be happy if they looked like these through the scopes by the way. I don’t have a Swarovski spotting scope so I could only expect even less from mine. I rarely use my spotting scope because I wear glasses and the field of view is horrible. So 99% of my glassing I do with binos. So seeing this, I believe I may give the Nikon a try.

The iphone 11 pro’s camera is good. What app do you all use? I am using ProCam for raw files, but a bit ambivalent about it.

I take all my pictures with my phone, and stopped carrying a designated camera on my hunts years ago. I do quite a bit of digiscoping with the iPhone/Phoneskope/Swarovski 80mm combo, and have gotten some pretty cool pics and videos that way. The animal shots are with the digiscope outfit, and all others are just with the phone.

Took and edited this on a recent scouting trip with my iPhone XS Max. Looks kinda neat from afar but if you zoom in you can easily see the lack of resolution. Still pretty cool if you ask me.

I hear the lenses from Moment are pretty nice but I’ve had shit luck with their CS lately while trying to buy a drone through them. Once I get over it, I’m planning to try some for fun. They also sell filters to go with their lenses, making your phone into a much better camera. I’ve also heard that the app Filmic Pro is REALLY good for total manual control of your phone camera; and I think they have a bunch of filters or effects built in. I’ve been playing around with video on my iPhone X using a DJI Osmo Mobile 3 gimbal I bought last year; and it uses a mobile app (from DJI) to give me much more control of my phone cameras. It’s a big improvement over the native camera app but I’ve heard that Filmic Pro is better. Hope that helps

I do a fair amount of taking pics with iPhone through my spotting scope. When lighting is right and subject is in the open it works great. But….. when the light dims -when critters are most active imor there is some obstacle near the subject like grass the phone has a hard time focusing and there is no good way I have found to focus it past where you want.

I couldn’t get these in focus ever. You adjust focus on scope and phone keeps auto focusing to where it thinks you want it but never gets there.
