I guess ill put my name out there aswell from Texas (San Antonio). This will be my 2nd year going up and will be going solo this year. Thinking of possibly hiring llamas or a packer since knowing there is no way I want to pack an animal out by myself. Got close last year twice but couldn't get it done, seeing an elk up close made me realize that it would be a brutal hike out by myself. Let me know if anyone would be interested in a trip for the first week to split some of the costs

How far back did you end up hiking? Never thought about renting llamas.....

The Distance wasn't bad, around 5 miles or so. Its the pack out that I am concerned with, Don't feel like possibly spending 3 days extra packing meat and camp out

If you're going back, and you're looking for a partner, I might be interested - what part of the state are you heading to (not looking for your spot just wondering in case I can make it happen).

I live in Colorado, this year is my first archery elk hunt (6th elk season overall) and I'm going back country, probably overlapping muzzleloader season if not just after.. The guys that were supposed to "be down" to go with me are flaking out. I have a spot picked out already and I'll be in there scouting this summer. If any of that sounds interesting, let me know. It would be nice to have someone to team with. At this point I'm planning for a solo hunt but company would be great.

Hey guys, I am in the same boat. I have decided I'm going back country and don't have any friends that are up for it, so I will do it solo if need be. The wife is not cool with the idea of me going it alone, but life is too short to wait around for other people! I have some experience archery elk hunting, I got my first in 2017 on a guided hunt in Oak Creek, CO.

If nothing else, it would be nice to make some connections for support on a pack out. Also seems like a lot tougher to get an elk solo since ideally you have a caller set up 50 yards or so behind. I have been doing some research and have a couple units that look good. IMG_0917 small.JPG

Hey! I am just wondering if you still need a partner for 2019! I live over here in WA and was going to hunt colorado OTC in 2019, however the wife would rather have me not do it solo! I was thinking of flying out this year around july/august for a week or so to scout. If anyone out there is looking for an archery elk partner for Colorado please feel free to message me!

Thanks,
Erik Ackerman

I am looking at heading out to CO next season for some archery Elk and may be interested in meeting up. Feel free to PM me how long you plan on being out and I'll see if I can make it work on my end. I am currently in CA and pretty flexible.
Are you still planning on elk hunting in CO in 2019 and looking for a partner?

I am currently looking for a partner for OTC archery elk. I currently plan on parking my camper in GMU75/751 so I can hunt multiple weekends as well as perhaps a long week. I hunted this unit last year and am somewhat familiar with it. If anyone is looking for a partner in this GMU please let me know.

TMiller, I am also looking for an OTC Archery Elk Hunting Partner. I live in Summit County Colorado and I have done a fair amount of preseason scouting and escounting in my surrounding GMU's. I'm not sure if you are flexible on which GMU you're hunting. Please let me know if you are still looking for a partner. I will be able to hunt the last 9 days of archery season here. I am also going out for 3rd quarter rifle.

I am planning a trip to CO for a early to mid September elk hunt. As of now, I don’t have a partner to travel with because of how far out this trip is. I already have my spot pretty well nailed down, but I’m brand new to this and pretty adaptable. I’m from Texas, but don’t mind just meeting up at the hunting spot if you’re from a different area/state. Heck, this may not work, but I figure Rokslide is as good of place as any to try
Hi, im Mike from southeast Texas also, going to leave for Saguache area of Co on Aug 28th, solo. Driving and pulling a Jumping Jack tent..
Will stay for 10 days or so in mountains 100% of the time. I usually go with a good group in October 2nd season, but this year they are having a big shebang at a Texas ranch, so I'm just going to camp and get out of town. Sounds like I will leave before you plan to.
Good luck.
