Self centered to not care what food costs are for those that can’t, kind of hypocritical of you to have a bleeding heart for welfare and food stamps yet not for the majority of society. Oh and guess what if food costs double, guess who it’ll hurt the most, people on welfare and food stamp. Think about it, they don’t get an unlimited budget but a set amount to spend.

You can rationalize being on the dole , doesn’t matter to me. Perhaps we should import produce more and shift resources internally to other industries.

What, so now you want to support foreign countries more then you fellow citizens that put their funds back into our economy and tax base 🤦‍♂️. You do know farmers pay taxes as well, right?

When lettuce is able to be grown and used at the rates as corn, beans and wheat world wide that will change, lettuce is a hard to come by or keep fresh commodity and you’ll never see it grow in large scale nationwide. Also it isn’t as demanded as the others, therefore prices remain high.

So it has nothing to do with subsidies driving down the cost and therefore increasing demand? I love how the markets work on everything except when it’s convenient that they don’t.

At the end of the day if others provide the same product at a better price and don’t require government support, allowing us to service debt and invest in infrastructure. Yes, I am good with that. Times change.

Here this video may help you understand, a 23 year old breaks it down for you. Also so your good with dropping GDP, taxable revenue and killing off the US ag industry that employs hundreds of thousands just to stop an immaterial subsidy to farmers, yes 13 billion is immaterial in our budget. I’d stop welfare and food stamps well before stomping out farming. Wow, how did us getting rid of manufacturing work out? So now AG needs to go, what should we keep to raise income in the US? Tech? Last I heard India had us beat and we had to import workers there, so why not just keep that work in India as well?

Maybe we should drop salaries to compete with China, can you live off $300 a year?

There is a place for food stamps and welfare. It is for people that fall on hard times. I believe in that, we all should.

But this assistance should not be given to people to lazy to get out and make their situation better.

I don t watch news, I don’t have any social media accounts (besides rokslide and Tradtalk) but I see this bullshit pan out daily.

Nothing like getting behind some douche bag in line at grocery store buying monster energy with a food stamps card.

Really? China can blows us out of the water on so many things it's not funny. Is it an even playing field? No, they have slave labor. Your stance is amazing.

One thing is for sure, he doesn’t understand how farmers effect everyone in this country and doing what he says to save 13 billion will cost us so much more and grow debt, also it’ll increase welfare and food stamps.

I mean AG only contributes $1 trillion to our economy annually, and once China pays fair rates that’ll only grow.

I like to hear people's opinions who are opposite mine. I try and understand them and see if they can pass the "smell" test. When they can not provide facts to support their stance I lose interest.

How do you compare a farmer to somebody on welfare?

Mind boggling views you have..you think you see the big picture, yet project your self in such a close minded, one sided fashion.

Good luck.

If you need government support to survive, then you need government support to survive. The idea that government has to fund ag in order to feed people at an affordable price is probably an idea in Sanders and AOC play book. The hypocrisy is actually funny, you hate socialism unless it helps you.

It bothers me when I get sucked into reading these type threads. Even more when I start responding. I feel robbed of time. Some just better to cut bait.

I consider my self open minded, just as all close minded people would.
