Anyone tried the Speer Impact Bullets yet?

Just saw Speer had the Impact bullets out for 30 Cal and .264. Looks like the Gold Dot bullet with a polymer tip and higher BC. Just wondering if anyone has tried them out yet. I have had good success with the Gold Dots in the past, so these make me curious.

A guy on campfire just posted this waterjug test with the 6.5’s and they look promising.

Reviving this thread only because I have a couple of deer under my belt with the 6.5mm 140 grain Impact bullet. I'm running out of a 6.5 CM at 2680 FPS muzzle with an SD of 5FPS. In summary, they work just like an Accubond. First deer at 60 yards and took a quartering to shot on the point of the shoulder. Deer fell where it stood with the bullet breaking the near shoulder, top of heart mush and blown off, and 2" exit hole in the offside rib. Second deer was identical shot at 214 yards. Almost exact copy with a 1.5" exit wound. That deer also fell where it stood. I lost in the scope it fell so fast. Hope that helps those of you contemplating its use in the future. From what I have seen I am going to tackle black bear and elk with it next.

I should say that I started a 6.5 PRC build and am really looking forward to see how these perform both from precision and terminal performance..

Thanks for the feedback and I’m gonna order some to try out.

Finally loaded some 172 impacts for the 308 tonight. Didn’t have good load data so I went with 43.3 and 44.0 of Varget only to finally open the card in the box with load data, saying max of 42.7! I shoot 168s with 45.5 so not scared. Bullets look real similar to a TMK. Will probably hit the range Sunday.

I've only loaded a few 5-round sets to test powder charge weights, but so far this is where I'm at with the 172 grain in my .308WIN with 22" barrel

Impact 172gr.
cfe-223 @ 47gr.
ADI brass, full-length resized/once-fired
CCI 200 primer
coal @ 2.810

avg. vel. 2750 (per magneto speed @ 1100' elev.)
s.d 10.1

This gave a 5-shot 1/2MOA group.

Powder charges from 46 to 47.5 didn't yield appreciable velocity differences, but this one shot best from an admittedly very small sample size.

30-06 speed with 1/2 MOA accuracy sounds like an awesome load.

Just got some 140's and a free #15 Speer load data. No 6.5 prc data weird?
It is in the little reloading card that is in the box of bullets if you havent opened them up yet. If it is not in there I can take a pic and post.

Alrighty, first two attempts below. Both 172 gr from a T3X 308 CTR (20” barrel). CCI 200, new Starline brass, and 43.4 and 44.0 gr Varget (5 shots each). 2.144” CBTO/3.112” COAL.

First group not so great but second one is decent. Feels like I could get a little more velocity maybe tighten it up a little. I’ve got two boxes so might as well shoot ‘em up.

No signs of pressure despite max load in sheet stating 42.7 grains at 2669 fps.

Found a real good load with 168s at 2.103” CBTO, 45.5 gr Varget gets it to 2692 fps.
