AO tag for CA zone D8

Hey guys, looking for a little advice on solo archery hunting in D8. I'm a long time rifle hunter but have not archery hunted in years and never in this zone. I know the area from mountain biking though. I'm not looking for anyone's honey hole, but what are your thoughts on where I should focus my time? Higher elevation? Near water given the dry conditions? I've done some research on ONX and I plan on glassing a lot but only have 3 full days. If I'm unsuccessful I can try again during rifle season. Thanks in advance for any advice

You might want to edit the title and include that this hunt is in Ca.

Like many zones in the state, much of the zone is very under utilized, or not utilized. So you may want to concentrate on areas you have seen deer in the past. Lastly, DFW provides some general area advice, you may want to take a look at that, and incorporate it into what you already know of the zone.
