Are Cooper 3 round and the AICS magazines interchangeable?

I'm looking at some Cooper rifles and see that some come with their 3 round magazines and some with the 5 round AICS magazines. I've read a little on here about magazine feeding and fitment issues, but it's unclear to me which magazine has the issues. Any insight would be appreciated.
