Here’s my specs on what I shoot. Mathews V3, 65# 28” draw length, 27.25-27.75 arrow depending on outsert/insert. Currently shooting Day Six 300’s @ 27.25” with 225 grains total up front. With my specs what weight arrow would you prefer with the day six’s?

Current: 570 grains
Option 1: 545 grains
Option 2: 520 grains

Depends on what and where your hunting, for me hunting elk in the NW I would shoot the 520.

I currently shoot 500gr arrows that have 225gr up front and they have worked great for elk, I'm also shooting expandable heads and still blowing through elk. 70lbs, 28" draw, RX4

I'd go with the lightest arrow of those three. With your specs you are going to already have huge pin gaps. A 520 grain arrow is going to penetrate just fine, so you aren't gaining much at those higher weights and are sacrificing trajectory.

I'd go with the 520's as well. That should be plenty of weight for penetration and enough speed. Nice balance I think. I'm at 282 fps with a 497ish grain arrow out of a Mach 1.

I’m with the others, I’d go with the lightest arrow there.

If you care to play with arrow speed you can go Here I’d expect your arrow to be few fps slower than it says. When I ran your lowest number I got 257 fps. I like to find a good balance between arrow weight and speed.

I use archers advantage and Pinwheel to find my estimated weights, speeds and spine before I build an arrow. That's why I am wondering if I am just a touch too heavy with what I have now.

Playing around with a few different combinations and this is where I am leaning.
-Day 6-300 Spine with the TI/AL combo (75 grains) + 100 grain broadhead- Weight 517
-Victory VAP TKO 300 Spine with the Aluminum Shok TL (50 grains)-125 grain broadhead-Weight 470.75
-Sirius Archery Apollo with the Aluminum Half Jacket (75 grains)-125 grain broadhead- Weight 490

Of those three which would you choose?

What speeds are you getting from those? I usually try to get between 265-280 FPS if possible. I'm right at the bottom end of that with my current setup and it works extremely well.

Personally I'd go with the 470 at 268FPS. Dudes have been killing stuff with lighter arrows than that for a LONG time. You should be getting good penetration with that setup and have very acceptable pin gaps and it should still be very easy to get your BH's to tune.

I’ll second that. Maybe up to 490gr. 470-490 In that range.
I ended up with the Victor VAP TKO's an built them on Thursday. 27.5" Carbon to Carbon, Rapt-X vanes, 4" arrow wraps, 50 grain inserts and 125 grain tips. Weighed it at about 485. Group tuned and then bare shaft tuned them and seem to be flying well. Going to shoot a few different broadheads to test out broadhead flight.
