athlon cronos v ares

Has anyone handled them side by side? I was going to use my brothers spotter until i realized that thing was a BEAST so decided its time to own one. The athlon seems like one of the best bang for the bucks optics right now and both these seem to be well regarded.

Looking at the lower magnification for the 2 unless the added weight for the extra magnification will make that big of a difference in spotting under 1.5 miles.

I'm curious about these as well. There are deals on the older models right now as Athlon has recently launched newer versions. Havent seen any comparisons between old and new though.

Basically the difference between the old and new Ares is the removable eyepiece option. Glass is identical. I haven't held a Cronus...
