Wanted to share my first experience in the field with the Cronus 20-60. I have not taken it out west yet but was able to use it hunting whitetail in Texas. I used a phoneSkope with iPhone 11.

This spotter is extremely clear and offers precise focus controls. I have found that it’s more compact than other spotters in its range. It’s surprisingly short and compact for a 20-60. This was a big plus. It is also competitive in its weight. I was able to get this from Doug at CameraLand as they are on sale currently.

The pros are:
1. Amazing glass
2. Lightweight and compact for a big spotter
3. Dual focus is very smooth
4. Good eye relief
5. Excellent field of view
6. At night I was able to see so much through the spotter I couldn’t see with my own eye. The last picture is incredible at 30 minutes past sunset. As a disclaimer it was finicky getting it to be this bright as in the morning it took it a long time to get bright. I think the iPhone camera has a lot to do with this and this was first time I tried it. 30 minutes before sunrise I could not get a good picture at all so keep that in mind. I’m hoping to figure this out more but only at night could I get it to be this bright

The cons are:
1. The field case is floppy when using
2. The eye piece screws in and out so using a phone Skope you have to find the sweet spot. For me this was anywhere from 25-50 zoom. It does not lock in certain positions so the weight of the phone only stays up when it’s all the way down or all the way out. I think this is common with most spotters.

Here are some photos:

This tree was at 50 zoom and 1090 yards.

Not sure yards here but at least over 500.

This was 200 yards

This was 100 yards

This was 30 minutes after sunset

I have not used any other spotter over $1,000 so would love to hear any feedback on this spotter from others who have used it. For my needs it seems to be more than enough and one that I plan on carrying on future elk hunts.

Thanks,
