Maybe I shouldn’t be so hard on the Viper HD but it just won’t work for me when I need it the most, in low light(right before sunrise and just after sunset).

With better light and closer distances it does give a nice clear view. These antelope pics are all taken through the Viper, from 90 to 600 yds

My Viper HD went back quickly. Very noticeable difference between the 2 scopes.

Anyone else have feedback on the Cronus 20-60?

Any thoughts on the Cronus @263madman and @NMframed ? I am looking at this versus other 80ish mm scopes and would like the performance to be a noticeable upgrade from my current Kowa 663m ( sample images from that scope with an iPhoneX here: https://www.birdforum.net/showpost.php?p=4049446&postcount=6 ) . With Doug’s (Cameraland) great prices currently, I am currently thinking about these and a few others. So any further insights on the performance would be very helpful. Thank you!

That Kowa is above the Cronus. I’m running a Lincoln and your Kowa is a Bentley in comparison (according to Joel at CLNY). If I had someone local that I knew with a Kowa I would compare them for you but I don’t know anyone with a Kowa. I know some that have a Swaro though. Haven’t compared them head to head and I would expect the Swaro to run away from it.

I can say that a coworker has a Razor and the Cronus beats it. He couldn’t believe how clear it was on 60X. At 10% off this weekend it’s an excellent price. I may have a perfect model and someone else may have one that’s not up to snuff. It happens.

Hi @260madman, thank you. The Kowa I own is not the 883 that the community loves, but the smaller 663 version. Do you still think it can image better than the 86ish mm Cronus? Thank you once again. (Doug’s Saturday deadline for the 80ish scopes is killing me.)

I’d talk to Doug. I know Joel said he had looked through it at the store and that’s about it. There’s a big price difference between them and we all know you get what you pay for when it comes to glass.

The 663 was what I wanted originally but wasn’t sure I wanted to spend the extra money. Maybe next year I’ll look at it again. I’m happy with what I have but not sure if there’s any other lenses that will interchange with the Athlon. I searched and havent found a definitive answer.
