AZ deer draw results are out already so the ship has sailed for this year, but I was wondering how the different Coues rifle seasons compare? (excluding late Dec hunt)

Tag #'s and draw odds vary a little bit but not drastically between the late October, mid-November and late Nov/early Dec hunts. Besides cumulative hunting pressure and weather, is there any real difference to one over the others (again, excluding late Dec hunt).

It really comes down to which unit and season you're hunting. Some of the early seasons tend to fare much better due to the lack of pressure from previous hunts and some of the November seasons get absolutely hammered by hunters down here in the southern units. The October seasons are typically still pretty warm so the bucks are sticking to cover and shade during daylight for the most part, especially the mature bucks, but that's not to say nice bucks can't be taken in those seasons because many are tagged every year. Generally speaking, if you are willing to hike a mile or more away from roads, and even more so if you can hike away and up into the tougher terrain the deer are there. Not many guys are willing to put in that hard leg work and backpack it in to the nasty spots. Patience behind the glass and the more pre-season scouting you put in will pay off huge in the early seasons, which is true of just about any hunting but it really seems to increase the chances of success down here.
