New to the elk game and draws in general but trying to get up to speed. So for AZ, you have you have an active license just to apply or get a preference point? So the cost of just a preference point is ~$160 plus the cost of the point (15-20 or something)? Is it like that for every state?

Correct on the first part. $160 for a 12 month NR hunting license plus $15 for a BP.

Each state has their own take on things.

Start budgeting just to apply during app season! It can get spendy in a hurry.

Each state varies and its best to look at the regs regarding applications or subscribe to a place that breaks it down for you.

Some states will charge the tag fee upfront only to refund you when you don't draw, some just charge an app fee. Some may require a hunting license to apply while other states might not.

Its been saod a lot but for $150 go hunt is a pretty sweet thing to have to have all the info in one place like draw odds, app process, appli ation strategies and a bunch of other stuff. It makes grasping the out west hunting for an easternern 1000 times easier.
