I’ve actually been very interested in doing the HCA build route. There’s are also throated to take 215 Berger’s or similar out of 300wsm

I mean I definitely would like to shoot past that. But as far as hunting, I’m not sure what kind of effectiveness a .300wsm has out past that.

My 300wsm is pushing the 215’s at 2963ft/s, it has plenty of speed and power out to 1000 and more.

What powder are you running to get 2963?

I’m running H4831sc & it’s running at 2865 with great accuracy & es of 12. Thinking it may gain a bit of speed as the barrel settles in with more rounds down the tube

I’d go with Mike at HCA, he’s a great guy and a forum sponsor, have to support our sponsors especially when they put out great products and service.

I’ve already spoke with him a bit. I’m pretty sure that’s the route I’m going. I’m trying to sell my Kimber currently and am looking for a t3 for HCA to build

How many rounds down your barrel, my velocity had a big increase at around 120-140rds.

Why not just buy the Savage 110 Ultralight in 300 WSM? It is exactly what you are asking for with a good price and you are already accustomed to their actions.

I have contemplated that, that being said my savage doesn’t have accutriger so it’s probably different a bit. Biggest thing is I haven’t really gotten my hands on those new savages, the stocks looked kind of flimsy but it’s bad to say until you actually get them
In your hands. I also don’t know if they will shoot the heavier bullets

For 0 to 700yds deer, elk and black bear I like my 300 wsm with 22" barrel and 165 or 180 Tsx. I have a Borden Alpine Mag but a Remington or Tikka will kill just as dead. Weighs 7.5lbs with swaro Z6 3-18.
