I was looking for an orange blaze for my Mystery Ranch Metcalf and they are sold out on thier website. I started looking around for an alternative and to my surprise there are many places to buy them(but do they fit my pack?) or ideas that other use such as an orange vest, etc. I figured if they can build one why can't I? So I ordered some orange cordura, straps, buckles, and zippers off Amazon and got to work.
Here is what I have so far. I am planning on attaching a zipper to make it have a little storage as well as to possibly use it as a pillow if stuffed with something.

I had a family member make me one similar to that this summer. I found some blaze orange cordura and one inch webbing (for the attachment points) on Amazon. Something like 10x14 if I remember right. I modeled it after a combination of the mystery ranch stick it (which I believe you are referring to) and the Seek Outside blaze talon. Good work.

I was going to buy an orange Talon for my Seek Outside but decided to use an orange vest that I will tie down so that it covers the back of the pack. It is larger so it should be seen more easily.

It took some time to get the zipper right but we finally got it on this morning. If I had to do it again I would get a longer zipper.

I was able to get 2 pullovers shirts stuffed into it for storage/pillow with a little room to spare if needed.

Next step is to make and attach straps on the pack.

Attaching pics of progress as well as pics of the pullovers that I was able to stuff in.

You are correct sir! I am referring to the MR stick it. Mine actually measures 10x14 as well.
Thank you!

Just finished it up!
Added to buckles on bottom and one on top of pack. I'm very happy with the way this turned out.

The extra storage on the outside is going to work out great as well. I can see a light jacket or raingear going in there for quick access.

Pics of bottom buckle, top buckle, and attached to bag.

Looks nice!
I made this, but now I think I may make something similar to yours that can hold things and double as a pillow.
I think mine is something like 100d or 300d ripstop. 20201023_193804.jpg20201023_193712.jpg

Explorer,

Thank you ! I like yours as well, bet its much lighter than mine. How does it attach to the pack?

I'm also trying to come up with a way to use it as a little pack in itself.

I live in So. Calif. and hike regularly with my pack on. Once I got checked out by OC Sheriffs cuz someone reported a vagrant wandering around their neighborhood looking lost. We got a good laugh outta that, especially since I was wearing a $2K Kifaru pack. So that's when I decided to customize my pack cover specifically for the Prius-driving, Birken-wearing, gray ponytail sporting, tofu eating snowflakes here.

Thanks!
I just sewed 1/8 bungy cords on each corner inside the hem line to make loops. Then I put the backpack's side compression straps through those loops.
Worked pretty well! It should fit most packs in some form or fashion.
