Interesting that you post this question now. I have a friend that owns a Fieldcraft in 6.5. He and I were talking about it yesterday and he was telling me how good he had it shooting. He has three different loads with three different bullets. 100 grain NBT, 129 Hornady SP and 130 Sierra Gamechanger. He said that he had just shot it that day at 300 yards and all three loads shot the same POI and less than 1 MOA for a total of 13 rounds. That’s really quite amazing for three totally different bullets with different powders to shoot all the same POI, especially at 300 yards.

My Fieldcraft in 6.5 is the easy button. 139 Scenar, 140 Partition, or 140 Berger VLD all provide very small groups. For target shooting the 140 ELD-M is really good. And so on... It just works. It will be the last rifle I have.

My 18' 308 with a 5" ultra will shoot crazy good, after about 4 rounds it opens up in my experience. I would bet money on it's ability.

This is exactly the setup I'd like to have, including the 5" Ultra. You get tired of it, please let me know.

Just picked up my 3rd Fieldcraft last month, a .30-06 (stupidly sold the previous 2, a .270 and a 6.5). The rifle will put 3 Federal Premium 180gr AB's into the same hole. Havent shot groups of more than 3 rounds and Im letting it cool and dry-firing in between the shots. VERY capable rifles. I actually just ordered the OG fieldcraft (a NULA) in 7mm-08 just because...

Thanks for the welcome. Also thanks for the replies. I just acquired a 25-06 in a Barrett and am going to start wringing it out. I love the weight of this thing. I also just installed a Trigger Tech trigger in mine as I absolutely love those triggers. I am going to load 100 gr, ttsx and see what she will do.

I got my father to buy a 6.5CM Fieldcraft with a 18.5" threaded barrel back when he was considering a Christiansen. I regret not buying one for myself, it's amazing. The perfect lightweight suppressor host and it shoots amazing.

Glad you love it, and that someone is using it. If you have a line on another 7-08 let me know!

I have the Forbes 24 (predecessor to the fieldcraft) in a 270. The Forbes has a Shaw barrel and I think the Fieldcraft has a Douglas barrel. It weighs 6.9 # with scope. Shoots 130,140 and 150 under an inch when I do my part. I've taken antelope, deer, and elk with this rifle and have had no issues.

I have a .270 and it is incredibly accurate And I am not a good shot. I sent 9 rounds at 100 yards without letting it cool to check my zero and they made a hole about the size of a quarter. It really likes 129 lrx factory ammo. I love this rifle.

308 unthreaded (wish I could have found a threaded). Well under sub MOA with factory ammo.

If you can find one, buy one. Don’t sell it.

Does anyone know what type of bedding compound Barrett used on the fieldcrafts?

I have 3, I’d definitely pick up another if I had the chance for what I paid pre stoppage. Top notch quality that I think would be hard to beat for what they sold for before they stopped production. Based on recent Gunbroker prices you might as well go NULA.

I found a new Lipsey's special edition 24" 6.5 CM on the shelf at Sportman's a few weeks ago and I immediately had them box it up. I took it home adjusted the trigger, ordered a Ti pic base from Murphy's precision, and later mounted a NF 2.5-10x42 NXS. The rifle came together beautifully at 7lbs 4 ozs and the blasted thing fired three factory loaded Hornady Precision Hunter 143s into a 1/4" cluster after a rough sight in. It is now fully sighted in and drilling steel at 600 yards with ease. Needless to say, I am extremely happy with my new Fieldcraft.
