I think I've narrowed it down to a Bergara B-14 Hunter or Wilderness and Tikka T3X for my 6.5 CM, but had a few questions about Bergara.

How costly is it to turn it into a 6lb or less rifle? I'd like to put a carbon barrel on it at some point, but I know their barrels are good so I'm guessing a stock would be the first move on that end. They should be compatible with most R700 aftermarket from what I understand.

I've read they had some issues with the bolt shroud and firing pin but that they were resolved. Anyone run into that?

And the last question-are there any reasons I should pick Bergara over Tikka?

My only hands-on experience with bergara (wilderness ridge SP) was not a good one. Boat anchor heavy, terrible trigger, and inaccurate rifle. 1.5 inch groups, even with handloads. Bolt knob fell off when I took it out of the box.

They put a bunch of videos and other stuff out on social media but don't ever respond to anyone's messages or questions.

I sent in an inquiry through their customer service/website/contact us about availability for the new canyon and divide and received no response.

There is a used 6.5 creed Christensen Arms Mesa on gunbroker for $999 that comes w rail and rings. Much better rifle than either of the 2 you mention

After attending the bergara experience a few weeks ago, and already owning one, I ordered another yesterday. The wilderness ridge mentioned above is not and was not meant to be a lightweight rifle. I think mine weighs 8.5 pounds. If you want a lightweight option the canyon or divide is where it’s at.
