The Berger 135 gr Classic Hunter factory ammo shoots very well in my Tikka T3X. For those of you who have used that bullet on game, how did it do? BTW, I don’t intend to hunt elk with it. Thanks for any reports.

Never lost a animal with one at close range or out to 400 yards. My wife and daughter both shoot a 243 loaded with 95 grain classic hunter and between the 2 of them they have killed 3 whitetail over the last few years and I have killed 4 with 168 ch out of a 7mm one at 100 yards and the rest were over 300 not one of them went more then 20 yards and most of them were didnt go anywhere. I wouldnt hesitate to use them out of my 6.5 I just have not bought any yet

I have a sample size of 1 on game.

135 gr classic hunter, MV of 3140 from a SAUM, 330 yard shot on mule deer, performed as advertised. Pic is of exit wound, entered behind shoulder and was slightly quartering to.

I purchased some of the 6.5CM 135gr Berger factory ammo and it is indeed Lapua small primer brass. Hell of a deal for the components you get.

Yeah, it's a ton of quality and value for sure! You can't buy the components for what they charge!

Makes a guy wonder WTF he's doing spending all these hours at the load bench. I promise I could consolidate to 6.5 Creedmoor and 300 WM and just shoot berger ammo and wouldn't be any less effective than I am now dicking around with x47, 6.5 SAUM, 7 SAUM, 300 WSM, and 300 NM.

If you figure in selling of once fired Lapua 6.5 and Norma WM brass, the $$ side looks pretty damn good!

wind gypsy, thanks for the photo. The 135 CH sure worked well out of the SAUM. I haven’t run them over a chronograph out of my Creedmoor or out past 300 yards, but with a published velocity of 2851 fps and my 22.4” barrel, I would guess I should be in the 2750-2800 fps range. So, I would expect to see the results you got at 330 yds at a little under 100 yds with my Creedmoor.

I saw a YouTube video of gel tests and the bullets were not opening at an estimated 2050 fps impact. That would be less than 500 yards for me. I don’t anticipate shooting much past 500 yds (and hopefully my shot will be well under that), but I would like to be confident that the bullet will open up if I have to take a longer shot.

I do think the Berger ammo is a heck of a deal because, as mentioned, the cost of the ammo is less than the cost of the individual components and I am winding up with once-fired Lapua brass ready to stuff with 147 gr Hornadys.

The 130 AR's are supposed to open up well on game too, I saw that was another factory option from Berger.

Interesting.... I bought some 1x fired lapua that looked like it was shot in a gas gun from the gouge on the shoulder. This makes me think it was probably from the AR variety of their ammo.

I was getting 2750 fps and very good sd using the 135 berger factory ammo in a 22" barrel. Be curious if that is what you guys see. It is priced very well due to the lapua brass you are getting.
