308 win with a Hornady 150gr FMJ out of a 18in barrel at 2.800COAL, full case load of w760 should be around 49.95gr , estimate 2475fps. You're not close to pressure with that load.

223win with a hornady 55gr fmj out of a 16in barrel at 2.260COAL, full case load of w760 should be around 27.85gr. You're pretty far from pressure with that load. Estimate 2680fps.

That's obviously not remotely an ideal powder for either of those, but it'll put holes in paper.

Thank you!

Of the calibers you listed

H4350 for the Creed
H1000 for the 300 WM
Varget for the 308.

Not sure about the 270/30-06. Maybe H4831SC.

This all assumes you want to stay with temp insensitive powders.

I basically just keep a good supply of the hodgdon extreme powders from 4895 - H1000. Would hate to pick 1 unless all cartridges were about the same on the case to bore ratio.

If I had to pick 2, i could probably get by with a combo of Varget and RL23.

If I had to pick 3 - 8028XBR, H4350 or RL16, H1000

Right on, just looked up the extreme powders. Looks like a lot of what’s been recommended. Gotta get those alerts set up on midway!

I reload for the same calibers. I use 4350 in the creed, 270, and 06. H 1000 in my WM, and varget in the 308.

Hey all, I’m trying to minimize my reloading supplies. I am thinking about cutting down calibers I hunt with to not have so many powders, primers, bullets I’ve spent too much money trying various powders, bullets etc.

I have the Hornady book and like the eld x rounds. It seems like varget is widely available for a lot of man loads. Does anyone else run a minimalist type approach to reloading? I live in an apartment and hate cluttering with too much, thanks for any input!

H4350 and H4895 will cover just about any bottle neck cartridge you want to shoot.

I use it in everything from my .22 hornet to my 300 WSM. Works fine for what I need it to do.

It's pretty awesome if you can share a powder between cartridges but I always find the best powders for each cartridge/bullet combo I shoot are always different. Once I find a good load I stick with it, but I pick up a lot of different powders along the way finding it.

Awesome, thanks all. How do you use up powder you wish you wouldn’t have bought as a novice ? Haha I have over 10 pounds of win 760 from before I realized it was temp sensitive. I need to start shooting more I guess

Give it away or use it as fertilizer.
Nothing wrong with temp sensitive powder though. i’ve been using 748 for decades and will continue to do so.

I lied!

I use it in 300wsm and 7-08, and assumed those were close enough to .308 and 300wm. Apparently I was wrong and can't find data for those two and staball.

It does look like you could win with varget and h4831/h4350, or imr4166 and imr4451.

I think I saw something on Hodgkin's Facebook page that they were releasing sometime soon additional staball powders to cover high and lower burn rates.
Could you recommend a few good powders so I know what to look for. Here in ca it’s hard to come by but want to get powders and primers and start loading some 300wsm

Impossible to say without knowing roughly what cartridges you are thinking. H4350 is a versatile one that covers quite a few medium sized standard rounds. H1000 covers most all magnum rounds. Varget is popular for the varmint cartridges - 243, 223, etc.
I second this. The two powders I have the most of because they seem to work across a fairly broad range as long as projectile weights are selected for the powder. Meaning check the manual to see if the h1000/h4350 is listed for a cartridge and what weight Bullets it is recommended for use with. Then just ensure you have adequate twist rate for the projectile weight and it fits in your velocity node for accuracy.

Trail Boss.

Don't even need to measure, just fill the case up to the neck, stuff the bullet in as far as it will go and let 'er rip!
