What is your opinion on the best factory long range rigs? I was looking at a Remington Sendero as a starting point.

Short or long action and more specifically, what caliber/cartridge are you considering? What is your goal- range rifle or to pack around the mountains?

Looking at 7 Mag as I want some steam. It is a hunting rifle. Would like to be under 10lbs scoped.

What do you consider long range?

A sub-moa rifle will make a heart/lungs shot at 600+ yards with good ammo.

For under $1K:
Browning xbolt stalker long range 7mm
Heavy 26" threaded barrel & under 8 lbs
or
Xbolt hell's canyon speed (save 1lb or more)

The fit and finish of the model 70 extreme weather or coyote light is hard to beat for the money.

How much difference in accuracy would you expect between the 2 at over 600 yard? The heavier one would be more stable and the barrel is heavier. I don't have experience is why I'm asking?

Remington 700 in 7 mm is twisted 1-9, will shoot 160s bullet easy that far=$ 500, buy new trigger= $150. 30mm rings and bases= $100. swfa mq $300.
Extra 50 bucks turn key happiness.
But that’s just my opinion .

Rifles I've owned around the $1000 mark:

Remington 700 sendero, 300 win mag. About $1200, unimpressive trigger, never shot much better than 1 MOA.
Renimgton 700 5r milspec (just what it was called), 300 win mag. About $1100, OK trigger, 3/4 MOA at best, mostly 1 MOA.
Tikka T3 stainless superlight, .308 win. $700, incredibly smooth action, great trigger, 5/8 MOA best, consistently 3/4 MOA.
Tikka T3 CTR stainless, .260 rem. $900, incredibly smooth action, great trigger, 3/8 MOA best, 1/2 MOA pretty common, never grouped over 3/4.
Tikka T3X CTR stainless, 6.5 creedmoor, $900 smooth action, great trigger, 1/2 MOA best, usually about 5/8 MOA.
Bergara HMR 6.5 creedmoor, $800, smooth action, great trigger, 5/8 MOA best, consistently 3/4.

is all that with factory ammo or reloads? either way, real nice shooting, both shooter and rifle!
Factory ammo. I shot mostly federal through the tikka super light. The CTRs were with prime and Hornady. The bergara shoots Norma and Hornady, but currently just Norma 130s.

My first look would be at a Bergara HMR. Although it’s going to be pushing your weight goal. Mine is by far the most accurate rifle I’ve ever owned. It’s even more accurate than my Tikkas which is something I thought I’d never see in an out of the box rig. Just don’t want to have to tote it very far. Between the rifle and the SHV on it and Bipod it’s kinda a bear to tote a long ways. I like my Tikkas for that

I have a Remington Sendero in 7 Mag - I put a 20 MOA rail on it and a Timney trigger..... Groups touch at 100. With solid bullets (I reload), you won't have any issues making longer shots. I made a good shot at 650 this year on a Coues Whitetail, the year before at 4-450 on a Javelina.

Not the lightest rig in the world, but it will stay steady for you.
