Bird and big game combo

My wife and I are thinking about doing a hunting trip with the dog next year and trying to figure out a good upland and/or waterfowl hunt combined with a few days of big game hunting. Has anyone here done a combo trip like this all DIY probably public land and any recommendations where to start?

i have done some big game in MT and bird hunting in MN and SD.

Antelope/Pheasant (same start date) in October or Mule Deer/ Pheasant in November. I typically do both but didn't draw antelope this year. I've posted threads on both.
