Bird hunting in the south.

If you lived in the Deep South and wanted to drive to hunt upland birds with your dog. Where would you go?
Could be quail, Phesant or grouse.
Public land.

I would like to hunt some Pheasant in south dakota or go to Idaho and go after multiple species.

I have a cabin in ND it sure is a lot of fun. 26 hour drive is brutal but we make it most years. We fly also which is great but i refuse ti fly my dogs

For curiosity sake, why is that?
if you have a half decent dog and can walk a little you will kills birds on public land. Chance at sharptails also if you go closer to the river. With the way its shaping up if spring is decent this is going to be a really good year birds had an easy winter and seeing them all over

i like the later season my self as crops are off but weather can be cold and not nice if your not used to it. Will see big flushes of birds as they are spooky but some always hold. Less people are around also.

There really isn't a best or worst time to hunt SD. Each part of the season is different. It's fun whenever you get to go.
