I have a bitz with left helical clamp. I would like to do 4 90 degree fletch helical. I thought I should set the top and bottom dial adjustments to 0. The resulting fletched arrow just doesnt look right. And the vane bases are not making full contact with the arrow. i tried dialing the top to the left 1/16 or more and the bottom the same. Still doesnt look right but better base contact.
Is there a preferred set up for helical with shorter vanes?

I have mainly used this tool for 4-5" feathers and it worked great.

thanks

Mine looks like this for 3" feathers, 90° 4 fletch right helical. It's not close to what the manual said it should be, but I adjusted til the base made good contact and that's where I landed. I've heard people say they've had to sand down the clamp a little too for optimal fit but I haven't done that.

THanks Much...this is very helpful as I was reluctant to adjust it that much. I am trying it now and will let you know the outcome.

I'm not very experienced with this, so take my photo with a big grain of salt. My feathers have stayed on for about 100 shots or so, but no long term report, and these were the first arrows I fletched myself.

I've had my Right Helical Bitz since 1975!!! I fletched thousands of 5" feathers, and for the last 14 years, 2" Blazer vanes. I have it set to make good clamp base contact along the shaft, and also put the vane in the clamp a tad shy of clamp jaw contact with the base of the vane. After the glue is added to the base of the vane, I firmly seat the clamp down on the shaft which ensure good full length contact with the shaft. I get a nice degree of helical and my vanes stay put....after I add a dab of glue to the leading and tail edge of them to finish the job in case they pass through a target....fur or otherwise. Good luck with it!

Boxers set up worked! First pic is before. Second is after I changed the offset (except it’s L helical).
