I picked up some beef fat from the local grocery store butcher shop to mix in with my elk meat to grind up for burger. Part way through the grind I noticed a fair amount of the fat had this blue color to it. What in the world is it? Dye from something? Grinder grease? Styrofoam? Hope I just didn't ruin 70 pounds of elk meat.

Call and ask them what it may be, I would think the stamp also but looks like quite a bit.

Yep. That’s the grade stamp ink. It’s edible. All carcasses are stamped with it when they are graded.

Hey thanks for posting I learned something. I would have been uneasy about that myself.
