A group of hunt together here in Mendocino county CA for coastal blacktail. We are about 15 miles from the ocean. Loggers in this area....and others...have used caulk boots for years. Local hillbillies like us call the 'cork' boots.

We hunt places that are so steep and dry that if you slip you might be going for a while. There is a lot of clay in our souls and often the ground doesn't give when you take a step.

Couple of years ago I bought some Hoffman Danner Pronghorns with caulks. I think Hoffman buys these possibly unsoled and adds their own bottoms.

The benefits are amazing. You don't know how much energy you expend just trying to walk or stand on steep ground. Uphill or down you feel like Spiderman. You don't have to really look where you step because you are solid. A big negative is rocky country is noisy.

A couple more guys in the group have now jointed in.IMG_20210815_094807252.jpg
