Border Crossing Limits?

Is there a limit on how much meat you can bring back from Canada? The USDA website says there is a 50 pound limit but I would like to assume that is for purchased meat not wild game. Thank you for any input.

Brought back 2 moose from newfoundland last fall they didn't ask how many lbs.

I brought 9 moose back from Newfoundland 3 yrs ago in my enclosed trailer. I always have at least four I’m bringing back plus maybe a bear.

Hasn’t been a limit on the Mexico/Arizona border for us with Deer and Buffalo. USFW do prefer it being deboned now.

You need your hunting license and any required provincial or federal export permits from Canada for animals you are bringing back. That meat limit is for purchased meat, not hunted meat....of course the border guards don't always know all the laws, so it best for you to have them in writing from the gov't websites, with something that clarifies the meat from a hunted animal vsm purchased domestic meat.
