Born Primitive Frontier Light Pants

Anyone have any experience with these pants? I like a lighter, somewhat stretchy/fast drying pants for my elk hunts. These look decent but always a toss up trying to gear. Thanks in advance!

I’ve had a paid since March or so, the frontier light 2.0s, and they’re my favorite lightweight pant I’ve owned. Very comfortable, breathable, durable, and functional. I like the hip Velcro to adjust tightness of waist without the needs of a belt, I like the pockets and the hip zips as well. They’re always the first warm weather pant I reach for!

Don't rule out the Terrain pants, IMO they have better pockets and are awesome & $40 cheaper. I work out in them multiple times a week and use them for training hikes and they have held up extremely well.
The hip vents on the Frontier does have mesh backer

Thanks for the recommendation! Are the terrain pants durable enough to handle minor brush/sage??

I would have no issue doing that in mine but everyone’s definition of brush busting is different. I have no idea if this is true but I believe the frontier and terrain are probably the same material, at least they seemed that way to me I don’t have the frontier light 2s anymore though.

I have a couple pairs and I like them enough.. not a huge fan of the velcro adjusts as sometimes it pinches under a belt.
I also hate a couple things about them.
the knee pad pockets but I deal with it because the pants are comfy.
And they come in 30 and 33 in inseam. 33 is long, 30 is a hair short. Not sure why they didn't do a 32 like every other pant on the planet. Not sure I'll buy them again but they are light weight and breathable

I have a pair of both the 1.0 and 2.0. I prefer the 2.0 version. I like the tabs, but if not wearing a belt, I find I can't get them tight enough over the course of the day and the pants still sag. I don't mind the kneepad pockets; I haven't put pads in there and the double material of the liner provides enough knee padding for short stints in some terrain.

I don't have the frontier but I have the assault pant. Honestly for the price I was pretty disappointed. The pocket stitching is poorly done and the pockets become non-existent quickly due to the stitching coming undone. This happened to me day one of wearing the pants. I am not the only one either, a couple other friends of mine who have the same pant had the same issue.

The material is nice and the pant is extremely lightweight. It does dry incredibly quickly. The material itself appears to be relatively durable. Obviously there are always trade offs when you go with a light weight breathable fabric.

I may venture out and try the outdoor gear vitals new pant or broaden my horizon.

Just got a pair last week. Material was louder than I want for archery hunting. Seem like a solid pant other than that. Will give them to my son. Wearing the SG archery pant last week was very impressed with their quietness.

I actually just sold all my Sitka stuff and bought all of the born primitive stuff in bottomland they offer and it’s really solid gear super durable and the features they offer in the frontier pants are killer I got the lights for early season in the southeast chasing whitetail and the regular frontiers for later season and I’ll layer it. Wish they offered a jacket in the BL camo too but my mossy oak woodsman jacket I have will do just fine for late season tree stand hunts paired with the BP base/mid layers. Also was super happy to see they were a grid fleece very similar to the sniffle gear I was issued in the army which works great and breathes rather well for long hikes. Also the beanie is KILLER I love the way it fits. Great gear they’re putting out over there.

Frontier lite 2.0 are my favorite hunting pants hands down. I use them from the beginning of season mid Aug until the end of Nov. I put a thermal layer underneath. Haven’t had any problems with the 2.0
