I love being in the mountains, I love being able to spend the time with some real good friends. We fish, tell stories and catch up on life. We get away from the busy part of life. We are there to kill an elk, this is just a bonus, but the reason we make the trip. If we do not kill an elk the trip is not a failure. If you get consumed with killing an elk all the fun gets missed. Sometimes you have to slow down relax and enjoy everything while in the mountains, then kill the elk. We wake up every morning telling ourselves this is the say we get an elk.

I've been doing the bow camping or 'armed hiking' trips for about 5 years. I look forward to it every year. At the end of the year I look through my pack and gear to see what was used and can be replaced or something that was not used and left behind. For some reason I just can't leave my knives and meat bags out.

Yup I'm one of the best bow campers of all time. In fact hunting parters says we go in heavy and come out lighter.
