This weekend my father-in-law and my brother-in-law and I went out want a black bear hunt. I have been three more times this season getting a bear each weekend we've gone out. Over the course of these weekends I have seen many bears, but one stood out to me. This boar in the picture I seen a few weekends back and I knew he was a taker. My father-in-law owns an old 30/30 Winchester, and he really wanted to get a big boar with this gun that he had handed down to him by his father-in-law. So we set out on this Quest to get this bear, before we got to him my brother-in-law was able to take his first bear and it was a chocolate coloured phase boar not the biggest around but one heck of a first bear. A few hours later roaming around where I saw this boar a few weeks before we managed to come up on to him and my father-in-law made the awesome stalk getting a 90-yard shot with this Winchester. Dropping the bear for only 7 seconds and its track, to our surprise before I could give him a high-five that bear got back up and started booking it down hill but we managed to find him a hundred yards in the Tangled trees. It was an awesome night! We have taken five massive boars out of this area in the past few years and are looking forward to take more.

very nice!!!!! Love those color phase bears you guys get on the mainland.

I completely understand the emotions when hunting with an inherited rifle. I took a good bear a few years back with my grandpa's old model 1899 303 savage.
