Broadheads for Black Bear

Going to Idaho for Spring Bear....will not let me shoot my beloved Wasp Jackhammers.

Would a 100 grain Slick Trick be sufficent? any other 3 or 4 blade recommendations?

Yes it will be sufficient.

Bears a pretty thin skinned. Any good 3 or 4 blade will be more than adequate.

Have killed four bears with an arrow, one with a Spitfire, one with a 3 blade Muzzy, one with a Steelforce COC, and one I don't remember, but I'm sure I used one of the three again. Fortunate on shot placement, so all were clean pass throughs.

I've been getting great reports on bears with our Iron Will Wide heads with bleeders.

Black bears are soft (other than their scapulas), don’t overthink it.

Black Bear aren't tuff, but their hair seems to absorb blood well. You want pass thru and decent sized hole.


Exodus and Iron Will Wide would be high on my list from what I have used.

that would be my 2 suggestions as well for bear specific... they are soft, and you can get away with a lot of cut without sacrificing penetration.

very true, and if you hit one in the scapula, you made a bad shot anyways, unless it's quartering to quite a bit
