Browning X-Bolt HC in 28 Nosler

I am a little overwhelmed with all the research ive been doing on optics and need a little assistance in my decision making. I am a flatlander here in Ohio so I do not really get to shoot long distance, but go out west every other year and shots tend to be longer. I usually buy vortex optics for my rigs simply because they are a veteran owned, but have heard so much crap on their glass it makes me wonder if I am being shortchanged. What should I be looking to put on this rifle in the $500 or less range whether it be used or new?
