A little background, born and raised in Alaska and have been thinking about getting back into sheep hunting before I get too old and too fat to do it. Made the commitment that 2020 was the year. Looked though the shooting gear and soon a stainless Ruger in 270 came home, then a few days later another stainless Ruger came home this one in 300wm.

However, after looking at them and shooting them. (Nothing against either rifle), both of them will be part of future builds. I decide to build an AR308 in 6.5 Creedmoor. The build criteria, reliable, accurate, compact as possible and light as possible.

Therefore, I ended up with a large frame AR in 6.5 Creedmoor that is 9# scoped and with five rounds in it. In addition, 40” long with the stock collapsed. It is a little heavier then I was looking for, but the rifle is really well balanced. Been shooting it and its been sub MOA with Hornady Precision hunters 143gr ELD-X's also shoots Winchester super-x 129gr well.

The build list 80% arms DPMS pattern lower, carbine buffer tube, CMC 3.5 drop in trigger, Magpul stock and grip, DPMS upper, JLBillet titanium bolt group, Proofreseach 20” carbon barrel, Superlative arms gas block, Anarchy outdoors titanium muzzle brake, JLBillet 15’”modlock handguard, Aeroprecision ultralight 30mm scope mount. Leupold VX3i 4.5x14-40 CDC 30mm.

Now planning to give it the first hunting trip on Kodiak in November for deer.

Nice looking build. POF has several 308/6.5CM in the 7-7.5# range for a factory build in their revolution line.

My Sig DMR Gen2 is very accurate but a touch heavier than yours there.

Best of luck on your hunt

Nice rifle. I built a 6.5 for some mid-range competition a few years ago. I would like to take it hunting sometime. Mine is a little on the heavy side about 11 lbs loaded with bipod.

Nice.

Yours is a little heavier than the 6.8 upper I put on my Rock river lower so my son could legally hunt with it.

It was cool, I ordered the upper from an outfit in CO [Extreme something] ....and they shipped it UPS right to my door in CA . Lighter than your 6.5, shoots a 6.8 110gr bullet but I'm impressed with the performance.

Believe that your rifle is a AR15 lower?

Nice build and good luck on your 2020 hunt.

my Sig 716 G2 DMR is heavy at 12.5# with atlas bipod and heavy glass. It’s a solid 3/4 MOA with hand loads out to 300 yards but I can’t push it hard or the ejectors will destroy the brass.
