Building a new blacktail gun

So for the last 6 years I’ve been hunting with a 260 Remington and 129 sst and love it works great now I’ve got a itch to build a 6.5/06 shooting 143 ELD X looking for any information good or bad and what length of barrel do you recommend

You should take a look at the 156 grain Berger EOL! We have found that you can push them as fast as the 143s and they have a higher B.C.! Terminal performance with the 156 Berger has been outstanding! There is probably no reason to go longer than a 24" barrel unless you are trying to squeeze long range performance out of your gun. 22" or 24" would be perfect!

I’d AI that 6.5-06 with an 8 twist and go to town. Would be a sweet build. Copper solids at 3300 or 140-156 bergers at 3-3100ish.

If it was my build I think I would go with a 24" barrel. When I was considering what rifle to build the 6.5-06 was one I contemplated but ended up going with a 280AI. I think the 6.5-06 is a great cartridge with excellent ballistics. I really like the Accubond bullet and the 130 or 140 gr. Accubond in that cartridge would be a good one!
