Oh wow, I was taken by surprise when I opened this thread only to find out you literally meant you were building a new bow! I'll be following along thanks for sharing.

Making some progress. My son Connor jumped in to work on the limb tips. I really like how he does these.. The shape is coming out nicely. The limbs came out straight and true after minor tillering. The hard part now is the final sanding for a quality appearance, and finish.

The weight came out pretty close.. 52 lbs@28”. Not bad for a swag on the first stack! It’ll be just right at my 29” DL.

Okay, I put in the WORK, and this bow is READY..!

I have a few photos to show off the finished Recurve.. I am really really happy with how this thing turned out. No doubt about it, this one is a keeper. It tuned easily, faster than I expected, and the draw weight came out in the range I needed! For any of you that have built bows, you know that’s partly a miracle for the first set of limbs out of a form. This bow really is just right.

It’s going to Alaska with me in 4 days, so if this luck holds it should be a really great “Adventure..!”

55lbs @ my 29” DL.
62” Bow
Double Black Riser with Stabilized Maple Burl Swing Accent.
Maple Burl Limb Veneers
Bamboo Core Lams

I went with an elevated Brush Rest as I’m using vanes for fletching on my very well tuned arrows. I’m not going to fight against the daily rains on this trip..!

Broadhead mounted arrows hit the same place as the target points, as well as the bare shafts, out to 35 yards, so I’m calling that “Ready to Go”.

If a moose decides to step in front of an arrow out of this bow, I’ll share the hero pics here..

Thanks for following along. Jeff

I would like to get rid of my heat box. Can you give me some more details on your heating system? It looks like a stainless strip of metal, a battery charger and one more component? How do you control the temperature?
Also curious about your jig for the table saw that you use for cutting tapers? Do you got plans for it?
Thanks

That thing is beautiful. When I read the thread title I figured you would be building a run of the mill crude looking self bow. Nope! You should be a custom bowyer.
